The Day My Classmate Fell Ill
When I first saw the title on my test paper, what occurred to me is one of the most tiring yet most valuable experiences in my life. It happened almost two years ago, when we were just became freshmen in the university. After a demanding day of military training, every one of us hungered for sleep so much so that we even ignored our supper in order to fall asleep earlier. We were in our sound sleep when I was suddenly waken up by groans. It was the “ Big Head ” from the upper bed. It seemed that he was in acute pain of stomachache. I quickly wake up all my roommates, who decided that we had no time to lose and must send him to hospital as soon as possible. All of us were in quick action. It was quite hot out there and the “ Big Head ” was big and fat. In spite of all these, we managed to carry him to the hospital in time. It was a narrow escape since the doctor told us that a little time later the “ Big Head ” would be in danger. We were very tired, to tell the truth; but relieved, too.
The whole thing is still so clear in my mind as if it happened last night. I learned that the affection and help between each other is important since we live as a society, not as an individual. We are indispensable to others just as others are indispensable to us. I am sure that it will give me some illumination to my future life in this changeable world. |
